Lesson 04 · Quality

Supply and demand zone quality grades.

Fair, Good and Best rank evidence—not outcomes. TickerMantis compresses several observations about a zone into a readable quality band. The labels help compare zones quickly, while the deeper implementation stays inside the engine. None of the labels predicts what price will do next.

By the end of this lesson

  • Understand quality as a relative evidence band.
  • Know why Best is not a probability or recommendation.
  • Use quality and distance together to prioritize the scan.
A GRADE RANKS EVIDENCE AT THE ORIGIN HOW TIGHT THE BASE WAS HOW TESTED THE ZONE IS HOW IT COMPARES TO OTHER ZONES A GRADE DOES NOT RANK WHAT PRICE WILL DO NEXT WHETHER A REACTION HAPPENS WHETHER A TRADE WOULD WORK WHAT ANYONE SHOULD DO ABOUT IT BEST IS THE HIGHEST CURRENT ENGINE GRADE NOT A PREDICTION, NOT A RECOMMENDATION
A structurally valid zone can stay Fair indefinitely. That is not a verdict on it.

The only one of the three measures that changes after the zone is drawn.

Read the three bands correctly

Every displayed zone has already passed the engine’s validity checks. The grade helps order the remaining evidence; it does not divide “winning” and “losing” zones.

Fair

Valid, with less combined evidence

Fair zones remain useful context. They simply rank below Good and Best under the engine’s current assessment.

Good

Stronger combined evidence

Good zones sit in the middle band and can be included when a Best-only screen is too narrow.

Best

The highest current band

Best is the strongest relative grade TickerMantis assigns. It is still not a forecast, probability or instruction.

Quality tells you what to inspect; distance tells you when

A faraway Best zone may be less relevant to today’s session than a nearer Good zone. The Screener lets you combine both dimensions instead of relying on one label.

Filter

Choose the minimum band

Use Best only for a narrow list, Good + Best for a broader review, or all grades when you want the full valid map.

Sort

Put the nearest first

Sort Distance % ascending after applying the quality filter. The shortlist now reflects both evidence and relevance.

Review chart context

Open the leading results in Pro. Quality is one input; trend, location, width and your own risk process still matter.

A disciplined Best-zone routine

  1. FilterSet Quality to Best only and keep the side appropriate to your review.
  2. RankSort Distance % from nearest to farthest and inspect the first manageable group.
  3. AlertSet the approach alert on candidates that pass your context review, then step away.

What a grade does not mean

Keeping these boundaries clear makes the tool more useful and prevents false precision.

Not probability

No implied success rate

A higher label does not state a known chance that price will reverse or that a trade will work.

Not advice

No automatic action

The grade is an analytical output. It does not tell you to buy, sell, size a position or set a target.

Not permanent

Evidence can change

Lifecycle events can change a zone’s current standing, and invalid zones leave the active map.

Quick knowledge check

Does Best guarantee the strongest reaction?
No. Best is the highest current evidence band, not a guaranteed outcome.

Why combine quality with distance?
Quality prioritizes the zone’s evidence; distance prioritizes its current relevance to price.
